Erik Hembre is a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.  He conducts research on homeownership, housing policy, and related subjects to help the Community Development and Engagement division understand the effects of housing-market dynamics on low- and moderate-income communities.  His research topics have included housing quality, housing supply responses to land-use policy changes, and creation of an alternative homeownership measure: the homeowners-to-population ratio or HPOP. Previously, he was an associate professor of economics at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
