Michael B. Clark is an accomplished hospitality executive, tourism advocate, and industry leader with more than 25 years of experience driving operational excellence, financial performance, and destination growth across premier hotel properties and hospitality organizations.
Currently serving as Hotel Performance Consultant for CSM Corporation and Chair of the Meet Minneapolis Board of Directors, Michael plays a leadership role in both hotel performance and destination development. As Chair of Minneapolis' official destination marketing organization, he works closely with hospitality, business, and civic leaders to advance tourism, attract major events, and strengthen the region's visitor economy.
Michael advises hotel leadership teams on operational performance, revenue optimization, and strategic growth initiatives. Prior to his current role, he spent more than two decades with CSM Corporation in progressively senior leadership positions, culminating as Managing Director of Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot & Depot Complex, where he led one of Minneapolis' most iconic hospitality destinations for more than a decade. He also served as General Manager of the Renaissance Seattle Hotel, one of the Pacific Northwest's premier full-service Marriott properties.
A passionate advocate for destination development, Michael played an instrumental role in the creation and implementation of the Minneapolis Tourism Improvement District (TID). Through collaboration with hotel owners, community leaders, and industry stakeholders, he helped establish a sustainable funding model to support destination marketing, convention sales, tourism promotion, and visitor attraction efforts throughout Minneapolis.
Today, he continues to help guide the strategic investment and stewardship of TID resources, ensuring funds are directed toward initiatives that increase visitation, attract conventions and major events, generate economic impact, support local businesses, and enhance Minneapolis' competitiveness as a destination for meetings, sports, entertainment, and leisure travel.
Through his leadership with Meet Minneapolis and the Tourism Improvement District, Michael helps connect destination development, tourism promotion, hospitality investment, and economic growth to create lasting benefits for visitors, residents, local businesses, and the broader community.
A respected industry and civic leader, Michael has served on numerous boards and organizations, including the Minneapolis Downtown Council, Hospitality Minnesota Lodging Board, Seattle Hotel Association, Seattle Sports Commission, and the Marriott Business Council, and is a past president of the Greater Minneapolis Hotel Association.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Minnesota and remains committed to advancing the hospitality industry while helping position Minneapolis as a vibrant, world-class destination.
